Welcome to Lutterworth Musical Theatre Company’s Website, we hope you enjoy surfing your way through some of our more recent history and into our future vision; finding out more about the shows we stage and the “characters” involved in them!
You may well notice that , as our name implies, many of the shows we perform are well-known and very enjoyable to perform. If you find out about us you will soon realise that we are quite simply a bunch of local people that enjoy singing and entertaining. You might be a bit worried that if you turn up to a sing-a-long for the first time, that it will all be a bit high brow: That there will be very clever people singing and reading music from music sheets—which way up do they go then :-). In fairness there are a few clever folk…but there are also lots of us who can’t read music or understand what all the black dots are for! It honestly doesn’t matter if you don’t know your bass from your soprano (FYI, a bass is a low male voice and a soprano a high female one, so actually it’s probably a good idea to learn that one!) - or even if you are sure a quaver is a very yellow crisp, lol!
The reason it doesn’t really matter is because if you just love singing, and enjoy being part of an ace group of people that turn up each week and just loved singing too, then you’ll fit right in. You may be clueless about harmony but everyone is very patient and kind and the sounds that a group of singers can produce when properly directed can be little short of awesome.
2008 was a very special year for us as we celebrated our fortieth anniversary, and you can see some of the photos from Orpheus in the Underworld (our major production for the year) on our show pages.
We are currently looking forward to our next show, Love Bytes and Nibbles - please click here Next Show for full details. We recently enjoyed great success with Orpheus in the Underworld, performing at Lutterworth College with many superb solo and choral performances. Of particular note was the appearance of the TARDIS, a full size Dalek and two Cybermen! The committee are very keen to build on this enthusiasm and welcome any new members. There is so much involved in putting on shows - not just “treading the boards”! Anyone who is interested in the production element (ie. stage, lighting, set design, props, costumes etc.) would also be very welcome. |
